Colour London 2015: Be Found was certainly a God kissed conference that left you thirsting after the things of the Kingdom. Senior Pastor Bobbie Houston encouraged the ladies to lean in and hear what Heaven wanted to reveal to them to develop their character, change their hearts and subsequently enhance the communities to which they are connected.
In her opening message, Bobbie endearingly shared exerts from her personal journal of 2014 with a message titled ‘If my journey could teach you anything’. Over 10,000 women were encouraged to Be Found in God’s word, in His shadow and in His footsteps, endlessly found and continuously connected to our source of love and life. She shared moments where in the navigation of somewhat uncomfortable situations affecting both her husband and family, how she conversed with God to check that they were going to be ‘alright’. We were reminded that we all face challenges and yes; they will all be on different scales and intensities however we must take heart that our victory is the same! Our victory comes from Jesus.
Worship was beautiful and was led sensitively by the amazing Hillsong team. Brooke Ligertwood (Fraser) took to the stage to guide us women into the presence of God, along with Reuben Morgan and additional team members. There were modern day singing numbers for some girly fun and laughs, which were executed with such professionalism and many smiles! Colour ladies were privileged to hear two new songs from the upcoming Hillsong album, which are a slightly edgier take on today’s style of guitar led worship and are utterly beautiful.
Dawnchere Wilkerson and Beth Moore were the main stage speakers whom encouraged and challenged all women in their relationship with God. They shared some intimate life stories from previous years and were open and transparent about current life plans that have not yet manifested, as they would have thought. It was in these moments that they told how their joy had come from having the word of God etched into the very core of who they were so that when doubt or uncertainty creeps in you can speak the word of God, which casts out the negativity and when you get closer to the Fathers heart, it becomes all we really desire.
The renowned Christian author and speaker Joyce Meyer popped in for a morning session on the Saturday and discussed with us the concept of ‘when God doesn’t pick you’. Her session was funny, life giving and encouraging, thinking we all go through this scenario at many stages of our lives. It really felt like you were having a coffee in the living room with a dear friend or mentor, her approach was warm and loving yet you felt challenged whilst she discussed a small part of her and her husbands journey.
Brian Houston, senior Pastor of Hillsong shared his heart on men’s happiness. He also had an open chat with a variety of other husbands and pastors on certain thought patterns of men, what respect means to them and how life has the ability to steal away from them the prospect of abundant living. They shared tips on how women can encourage and speak life into a significant man in their life be it a husband, partner, brother, son, father or friend and were open and vulnerable about life scenarios that they had gone through.
My first Colour conference made my relationship with God stronger than it has ever been! I feel so privileged to have been able to attend and be part of the bigger ‘Sisterhood’ that Bobbie Houston has created all over the world. She started with a whisper from God 19 years ago, she has remained faithful with what has been in her hand and it has grown into a shout…that is now proclaimed from all corners of the world. What a beautiful way she has paved for so many women, so releasing, so freeing and life giving! Not to mention the beautiful Bible’s we were gifted that were created especially for us to sow the word of God into a special man’s life.
So Ladies…next year’s registrations are already open! Get your girlfriends together and get booked in for Colour Conference 2016 you will not be disappointed.
