OUT AND ABOUT: Thermae Bath Spa

December 26th, 2015 / Stephane

With 2016 on the horizon, we plan on venturing just outside of London to bring you both fun and engaging activities beyond the captial. We recently headed down to Bath, England (1hour 30 outside from London Euston) to get started.

It was a great experience and we got the opportunity to stop by and dip into the Thermal Bath Spa.

Now don’t be alarmed, despite temperatures dropping to 8c, that was no indication to just how warm we were once we emerged in the water. Located in the heart of the World Heritage Site, just 100 metres from the Roman Baths, the restored Spa draws its thermal waters from the Hetling Spring, the Cross Spring and Kings Spring which deliver over one million litres of water every day at a temperature of 44 – 46c. With remarkable views of the city and surrounding hills from the iconic open-air rooftop pool, it’s a great trip with your favourite girls!

Here you can bathe in naturally warm, mineral-rich waters just as the Celts and Romans did nearly 2,000 years ago. A unique blend of ‘old and new’, Thermae combines the best of the 18th century spa buildings with the contemporary architecture of the New Royal Bath, designed by leading architect, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw.

Thermae’s signature treatments include:

Watsu – a combination of elements of shiatsu massage and acupressure, performed in the natural thermal water in the historic Hot Bath

Roman Trilogy – a trio of treatments including a salt and coffee body scrub, a vanilla and ylang ylang body massage and a facial using uplifting rose and geranium essential oils

Inner Strength featuring a frankincense inhalation, a leg and back massage using a specially blended Inner Strength body oil and a hot stone placement and face and head massage.

The Springs Café Restaurant for spa users has a constantly evolving menu. Products are sourced locally wherever possible and the food is freshly prepared on the premises by our chef and his team. Guests can choose from a selection of sandwiches made with artisan breads, dishes such as roasted salmon fillet, Thai chicken curry and Caesar salad, or light bites such as marinated olives, or seasonal fruit.
